0 Replies and 9 Views Hi from North Devon  9  0 Started by  Derek I have been a member since January when I requested a bird. My CAG died and as Birdline did not know the cause I was put in quarantine for 3 months. Well 7 months later and still not result. Even offered to be a safe house. No wonder the charity is at breaking point if members are treated like I have been treated. Needless to say I will not be renewing my membership as I have already wasted £25. Oh and I passed my home visit which was a waste of time.

0 Replies and 44 Views Hi from Edinburgh  44  0 Started by  emaggied Hi I've previously kept budgies and we landed up hand rearing one a few years ago who became a really important part of our family.  He died 2 years ago and my kids still miss him terribly, me too! We have three kids, 13, 11 and 9 who are all keen to have another bird in the house.   I've been reading up about parrots - my grandma used to have an African Grey, but, I've never kept one myself. There's a wee Hahn's up for adoption - can anyone tell me how nippy they are  Or, ev...

4 Replies and 365 Views Hello from Leicestershire  365  4 Started by  pipkoi Hi I have just joined Birdline as we would like to bring Parrots back into our lives & where possible, prefer to rescue. Though birdless currently, over the years we have kept Conures, Cockatiels, Eclectus, Cockatoos, Senegals & bred Eclectus & Blue & Gold .Macaws. However, we have been birdless for about 10yrs due to changes in our working circumstances i.e. More hours, time away from home. However, we have both recently retired & therefore feel that we now have the time again. Our ...

3 Replies and 113 Views Hello from London  113  3 Started by  apricot Hi, i'm Claire I met some of the birdline representatives at the Parrot SHow a couple of weeks ago and thought i'd take the plunge and become a member.   I have a lovely, feisty and cuddly  yellow sided conure. Rio. SHe's 7 and I've had her since she was 16 weeks old. I'm considering getting a companion for her as my circumstances have changed and she is now home alone when i'm out at work all day. 6 Replies and 287 Views Hello from Woodbury Salterton near Exeter  287  6 Started by  Ros   Hi     My name is Ros and I'm new to Birdline.  I attended the Pop Up last week at Ashburton and really enjoyed it.  I have two African Greys named Morgan who is 15 months ad Flint who is 10 months.  I'd love to keep in contact with anyone in the area and maybe meet up as I don't know anyone else with birds.  I'd especially like advice on keeping two male birds together.  Morgan is becoming a real biter and draws blood.  I've read...

1 Replies and 312 Views Hi everyone :)  312  1 Started by  only me Hi everyone, i'm Mark. I live in the West Midlands. I stumbled across the site whilst looking for bird rescue centres within the UK. I have been thinking about adopting a bird for a while and i cannot see the sense in funding animal breeders when there are so many that are in need of homes. I have always had rescue animals, including the current two dogs and a cat. I have some experience with aviary birds, having had some in the past. I'm thinking that safehousing is a good idea to gain experien...

2 Replies and 426 Views NEW MEMBER  426  2 Started by  cherry Hi I have just joined and wanted to introduce myself. I live with several dogs ( all small ) 2 beautiful Celestial Parrotlets and an aviary with budgies. I also look after my mum who is quite elderly and she thinks I'm mad to have so many animals to care for ! Especially when it is pouring with rain and I have to go outside with the birds and dogs needs, but I love it. I live on a beautiful Island between Chichester and Portsmouth as far south as you can get without having a dip in the sea. Now ...

2 Replies and 606 Views Hi there  606  2 Started by  Daveo Hi to all,   I am new to birdline and currently birdless. I am 61, retired and married to Margaret for over forty years. Our parrot experience is somewhat unusual in that we looked after a timneh grey called smokey joe for a elderly gent while he went away for a few weeks in 2012. Smokey was (he is now unfortunately deceased) a 26 year old shy but aggressive bird with a bad history of plucking. However, he settled right in. We were given a list of how to care for and feed him with a big ...

0 Replies and 492 Views New member in Kent  492  0 Started by  Robbieb60 Hi, I have just joined the group after hearing so many great comments from friends and other rescue services. Although I co-run a rescue service in Kent , I don't currently have a bird of my own. I have around 32 years experience in keeping, breeding, and caring for various species of birds, and working with other rescue groups over the last 15 odd years have helped to care for and re-home everything from a finch to a European Eagle Owl.  I had my last Macaw Ronnie for just over 15 years,...

3 Replies and 645 Views Hi from Manc Mynah Mama!  645  3 Started by  Mynah Mama Hello folks! I'm from Manchester and I've just joined the forum. I know it seems to be mainly owners of parrots on here so I may not meet anyone else who owns a wonderful, rare, entertaining and extremely intelligent bird like mine....a Greater Indian Hill Mynah! He's called Jake and I've owned him for over 9 years now....he's almost 10 years old. He's adorable and I am so glad I have had the opportunity to own one of these amazing birds. Looking forward to perusing the forum! xx

1 Replies and 584 Views Hello!  584  1 Started by  saraian26 Hi, my name is Sara - said Sarah, I am 32, have 5 children, have a lurcher, hamster (my daughters) a cat, Rosie and my two cockatiels Buddy and BooBoo.  I haven't had my birds long and I am not an expert, but I'm reading and learning and love my birds to bits. They are unlike any other pet I've owned and I'm mad about them. I picked cockatiels as I wanted a parrot type, I always wanted one but with 5 kids I knew I wouldn't have a spare 600 quid spare for one! So when I met my current birds ...

I have had birds since being a young girl and currently have two Indian ringnecks and six budgies. My dream had always been to have an African grey. Last Saturday I brought our new baby called Wolf home and the worries began. I was informed by the breeder that Wolf was weaned but still required a night feed just for a week. I purchased a massive bag of food from the breeder so he would b happy with the food h...
