We do know of some so called ‘Parrot Rescues’ who are taking in birds, and then re-selling them despite what their web sites states.

Pollyanna (Galah Cockatoo) - 6141012

Name: Pollyanna

Breed: Galah Cockatoo

Reference No: 6141012

Summary: I am a very pretty Galah Cockatoo and my name is Pollyanna. I am afraid my age and sex are unknown.

Description:
My safehouse Dad says that I am one of the quietest Cockatoos he has ever known. That doesn’t mean to say that I don’t have a little shout now and again - usually when my safe house Mum and Dad are having their tea. That’s only because I want some of their food as well. Mostly I just make a quiet little whimpering noise although I do talk a little bit. I do like to copy when someone laughs, coughs or sneezes. I love to come out of my cage and will step up for almost anyone. However there are a few people I just won’t do it for at all, so I guess I just like who I like, as I can befriend men and women although I can take a dislike to both sexes too. My safe house Dad says I am a bit of an unpredictable bird as I love to spend time with you on your hand and arm and can be quite ‘cuddly’, but then I can have a complete mood swing with no warning at all. I think ‘volatile’ is a word that sums me up quite well. For that reason I cannot be rehomed with children and will need to go to a home that is experienced with Cockatoos and have knowledge regarding their need to try and dominate you humans. I love my toys, especially my bell, but am pretty good at breaking them and leaving them in bits on the bottom of my cage. I am a very strong flyer and like to exercise my wings with a few mad laps around the living room. Now that’s the time when I like to make a bit of noise. But then shut up when I land, so it’s not for long. Whoever becomes my new forever home, will have to be patient with me and will need to be in it for the long haul as I am a challenge but one that is well worth taking on! I don’t really like dogs that show an interest in me. If they ignore me, I ignore them. I come with my own large cage and am living in Hardwicke at the moment.

Comes with cage? Yes

Location: Devon

Note: This bird is in the latter stages of the rehoming process and a potential forever home may have been found. Please do not apply for this bird unless the red writing is removed. Thank you.
