    Please help!
I have read numerous times that sunflower seeds are not good for African grays?
I have got a new member of our family and his food is full of them in an unnamed clear bag.
    Please can someone advise:
    1, best food to buy?
2, where to get it from? Online preferred.
    Thank you in advance! X

I have a total seed junkie with me and I get buy AS20. This has got sunflower seeds in it. It's not that they aren't good for them they are just so small. My bird has just started to eat a little apple and will have a chicken leg (cooked). But doesn't eat too much of anything else. I have been slowly changing mine over to pellets. This has got everything all in one. So it makes me feel better 😊☺😀
You can get AS20 online from scarletts parrots or other bird websites. I get mine locally as they sell it by the sack load 😉😃
    Hope this helps 😁😀
Just make sure you get seed with NO monkey nuts they are really bad for parrots!!!!!
I'm sure someone else will come on and advice if I've missed anything.☺😊😀😁

There are a number of good seed mixes out there. An un-named clear bag would not be a good mix. Look at www.robharvey.com, and look at his 'Parrot Premium Plus' seed mix. You don't have to buy it from him, it's just a pic of a good seed mix, and what you should be aiming for. Sunflower seeds in large quantities are very bad for parrots. Think of the amount of oil ... a good mix should have no more than 15% tops sunflower seeds. And NO PEANUTS/MONKEY NUTS, no matter what the quality, roasted or otherwise. AS20. Johnston & Jeff low sunflower mix, Wite Mollen (Rob Harvey's Parrot Premium Plus) all these are good mixes. Best of all would be pellets, Harrisons, Zupreem, etc. if he will convert. These have all vitamins/minerals that are needed. If you email me (doddie.birdline@hotmail.co.uk) I will send you the literature I have about sunflower seeds and peanuts. Both can kill.
