Recently, Zippy, my orange winged amazon, has been travelling to the bottom of his cage and screaming. It isn't his usual morning/evening scream, it's a lot lower and he seems to be distressed, but I can't find any cause. He's done it three times in the past two days and I'm very worried. He isn't falling to the bottom of his cage, I've seen him walk down and he'll cluck a little before making his way to the corner to stand there and scream. When I pick him up, he'll stop and he's fine almost immediately afterwards.

Does any body have any advice? I'm at a loss of what to do.

A number of questions. How old is Zippy? And are you certain he is a he and not a girl? Does he/she seem to be exhibiting 'nesting' behaviours more (shredding more paper and card ans such like)? Is there any sign that he may be in pain?

Just wondering if it might be hormonal behaviour, but if there is any question that he/she is unwell, you really ought to get him checked out by an avian vet. Whereabouts are you?
