The search for a cage for BFA goes on!

I have found this link on ebay, a little more than i wanted to spend but am getting no where fast as all the good ones are miles away!. This one will post....but most of the feedback is positive but a few comments say made in China...some say fab cages. If anyone gets a chance have a look at the link and your comments would be appreciated..

they also have this one, a corner cage which for space in the room may be better but for his needs, maybe to small? He comes out for most of the day but does go back in and out and only seems to like a warm spray inside the cage and he opens out all his wings so i can reach all of him!

    Nikki,

I don't know who makes the Bali cage, but looking at it and doing a bit of a search on the web, it seems they are made in China. Certainly looking at the pictures on that sellers site, I'd be concerned about the door lock (they don't seem very sturdy). Also, most of that sellers photos seem to have been taken in July 2009, either that or taken from screen shots on their PC. I know expense is an issue, but as you are rightly doing, shopping around for a good quality (such as King's or Montana) second hand cage may be more appropriate.

I remember there was some discussion about bar spacing in another post. Our CAGs are in a Montana cage with a small bar spacing (aound 1.5cm I think) and that suits Joey very well (he has long toes and is very clumsy.) It allows him to get a firm grip wherever he is hanging in the cage. Charlie is very happy with it too.

Just another question, is this a SH or foster bird and do they have a suitable cage at the moment? (Just trying to get an idea of the urgency of the purchase.)

he is a recently fostered bird by me, he is in a spare cage i had but its a bit small for him so would like to find him one asap. Luckily he he a good boy and plays around ontop of his cage most of the day. Just been searching the net for about 2 weeks now and if i had to travel so far for the good cages i may as well buy a new one!
Thanks for your imput i did feel unsure about the links, and dont want to spend that money on rubbish

Have you tried Meltonpets.com? They are a wholesaler, much, much cheaper than other places, and worth a look. They will sell to non-retail people if they spend enough. A while ago I bought some carriers for Birdline, and they were very helpful. If you spend more than £200 delivery is free. The trick is to get enough people to want to buy enough stuff (cages, perches, toys, etc) to make up the money between you. It's easy if you're buying a cage.

I had a cage from meltons before and if in honest I wasn't impressed with the quality. I have not long ago bought a rainforest cage and I am happy with the quality of that (bought from Scarlett)

Bar spacing looks too big and you cannot see the quality of the powder coating and/or welds. I would stick with Montana/Rainforest/Sky. As others have said, go for second hand.

    I saw a cage on e at a few
Weeks ago went for a bargain and they were offering delivery via courier for £25
I wonder if you spoke to the seller if they would let you arrange your own courier?
Perhaps that helps if they are not so close.
I have a nightmare at the minute brought on by my own stupidity we bought a massive cage which Seemed great
Had a quick nose there was no rust It was in a lean to so I checked one side partner checked other for it in the van and were really happy
Got it home and one small problem
We never checked the slide out tray which is rusty but its nowhere near where a bird would go about. 6 inches from the grill then to top it off the lock was missing as IDE stood at the back of the cage I only saw the panel where the lock was meant to be
To say I'm upset is an understatement.
    Does anyone have any ideas?
There's a largish panel where or should go so a naughty beak
Can't reach it we thought about just useing a bolt? As its nothing the bird could get hold of from inside? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated ,
    As we've just applied for
Our first bird we were all excited now we've been left with something that at the moment is
    Unsuitable
    And now I'm
    Worried when we get
Our Homecheck if we haven't sorted it we will be refused
Thanks for your time people xxxx

Rob this will not result in a refusal and birds often come with cages so firstly, panic not, its bad for your health.

As for the rust, even though you think a bird cannot reach they will do amazing things and personally I wouldn't trust it but you can often find trays or grills which will remove the problem and there is bound to be an exact replica of the cage you have out there in the scrap heap across BL that we can steal the lock from and post it to you.

Do you know the make and model?

hi there .just a note to say if you buy any cage new from a web site and they deliver, always sign the as damaged even if not. as then you will have some come back if the cage is damaged not the packaging..

Well the grill is 6 inches above the tray . How do I post a pic of it?
I don't know what make and model there isn't anything to say?

That's a good idea If I can work out what model in sure i could order one if nobody had one direct from the company and maybe a tray.
The grill is fine as is the rest of the cage.
It just defeated me that day when we got it because I thought why have I done this.
We haven't had. Homecheck yet x
If Somone will tell me know how to post a phot And I will thanks for he help xxxxx

Rob, to post a pic you need to open a photobucket account, that's not difficult and upload it to that site, ditto. The tricky bit seems to be copying it on here. You need to copy and past the line of HTML code into your post. But do use the edit functions in photobucket to make the image about 500 x 600 pixels so that it will fit in the forum page.

Its a Montana Rob, I can't remember the name but I have that cage for my macaw. You should be able to get spares I would think. If I remember rightly sky were the agents, but there are a couple of people on here who may well know better. I hope one of them will be along soon.
