Thanks, Chris.  We new "mums" need encouragement we can get quite anxious if there is a single feather out of place!

Helen, the scrolling photos just happened. I expected them to come on as separate photos.  Still it's quite good to have them scrolling.

Thanks to everyone for their comments. He is a lovely bird but then I am extremely biased!

Ladies you are both so very lucky!!

Not only did you both get up close and personal with the gorgeous Dixie, Smally put time energy and love into the building blocks that Jennifer is adding to!

As a SH, you often don't get to maintain as much contact with the new forever home that they go to and to be able to share even more widely than that is fantstic.

Thank you both for sharing. I'd be lying if I said if Jennifer hadn't appeared when she did I was serously considering offering Dixie a spot here!!

Your continual updates Smally made sure that my heart strings were well and truly plucked, in fact they were playing a song, every time I read your updates.

Birdline doing what it does best which couldn't happen without so much from so many.

    Keep it up everyone!!

    WTG Dixie!!

    Aww Victoria,
Thanks for those kind words like you say Jennifer now is making Dixie into the wonderful boy he is becoming. I realise that I am extremly lucky that Jennifer has agreed to keep in touch over Dixie.

I only thought to do the write ups to let everyone know what a wonderful boy Dixie was as we could see but the pictures though showed him do and did not show him at his best I think even Jennifer will agree that he is an even better looking bird in real life. His colours are so striking and he has the most wonderful temprement it is untrue.

It was and I am sure is still going to be a long slow progress with Dixie as he has obviously got a lot of unsurities and little confidence even I would say but it was an absolute pleasure to have him with us as a safe house and we do miss him at times so it is lovely to keep in touch and as you say it is only because of birdline that we are able to do so. I hope to always have contact with Dixie and Jennifer and be able to see him flourish the way he obviously is.

If/ when we have another safehouse bird as we are at the moment empty in that respect then I would do the same sort of write up I believe as I dont intend for them to tug at heartstrings just to let people know how the bird is and how they maybe progressing. I would like to think that it helps people to choose a bit better and maybe not apply for a bird that they wouldnt be put with and so maybe stop upset if possible. I think Jennifer would say as I know that she read the updates about him that it was as honest and true a description that I could possibly give about a parrot, without doing a 24/7 video diary.

Here is hoping that Dixie comes on even more and soon we get the fantastic news that he has started to let Jennifer stroke him and give him the touch he so wants but is too scared to take.

Yes, Victoria, I know it is a privilege to share our home with Dixie.  I suppose I can't take up the forum for ever writing about him as other birds are in need of letting people know about them so I probably won't put much more on unless he does something amazing such as burst into song, speech, eat a banana ... or whatever.

I wonder where you are in Essex. I will probably be coming to Witham again for Christmas and just might bring Dixie too.  Though probably not. (I will be asking for a holiday home for him if not)  My friend is quite happy for him to stay at her place but I would need to sort out a suitable cage for him.  His super home here is too big to go in Elsa's flat and the travel cage far too small for him to live in for a week or so.  He might be allowed out but almost certainly would not choose to do so. Also it is quite a journey for him though he wasn't that bothered with the journey here from Middlesburgh.

I see there is a pair of M. Pionus on the list.  They look lovely.   I wonder if Dixie would like friends of his own kind
