WARNING – Please Be Aware

If you are looking to re-home your parrot, please always use a reputable Parrot Rescue Organisation.

Always check to ensure the organisation you wish to use is registered with an approved organisation such as ‘The Charities Commission’ or ‘Companies House’.

We do know of some so called ‘Parrot Rescues’ who are taking in birds, and then re-selling them despite what their web sites states.

I just answered this and it didn't appear. Try the member contacts list Nicky, I am sure Tracy's details will be there. That is the first place to look for ACO details etc.

Ok I spotted it. You put it in two different places.

Yes, I have had that problem. You have to find an old post by someone to be able to find their username. I have used the search function to find what someone has posted and get it from there. It is up on the top right hand part of the page, in a blue stripe.

Hi Julie and welcome to the forum.

You'll find everyone here friendly and helpful and completely nuts about parrots.

If you wanted to become a foster home (equivalent to adopting in human terms) or a safehouse (the equivalent of human fostering) then you'll first need to become a member of BL (costs £25 a year.) Then you are eligible to apply to foster a bird off the rehoming list. You have to remain a member for the life of the bird (who remains the property of BL.) You would have a home visit before fostering or safehousing to ensure that your home is safe and you are aware of teh dangers there may be.

Whereabouts in the country are you (City/County will do)? We have members acrossmost of the country and a network of local Area Co-ordinators who are our hard-working volunteers responsible for home checks, collections, etc.

There are further details here on the site about how to foster but any further qusetions, please feel free to ask.
