WARNING – Please Be Aware

If you are looking to re-home your parrot, please always use a reputable Parrot Rescue Organisation.

Always check to ensure the organisation you wish to use is registered with an approved organisation such as ‘The Charities Commission’ or ‘Companies House’.

We do know of some so called ‘Parrot Rescues’ who are taking in birds, and then re-selling them despite what their web sites states.

A big thanks to Sharon Hill for helping again with submitting our latest Gift Aid claim. On this occasion in particular it proved to be a real task aligning our data, and its format with that required by HMRC.

Now we have a two year claim history, we are eligible to claim GASDS - Gift Aid Small Donation Scheme. This means that we can claim gift aid on donations made at shows etc (not including amounts over £20 made by a single individual). There is a small amount of work to be done by us, but I fully expect to be able to claim GASDS on all show collections made from 1st Jan 2015 on.

Thank You Sharon for your support with this.

    Chris

Chris, do you have access to the Show Databases? When I bank money donated at shows, I enter the amount against the name of the event on the dBase. Or do you need me to let you know amounts/dates etc?

Excellent I don't have access to this database. I shall email you details of what we need to make the claims. Thanks Doddie

I've only just spotted this but thanks for the vote of thanks Chris. It was truly a pig of a job this time, and even worse for having to do it twice.

Thank you for your help revising the spreadsheets that made it much easier.

But it is rewarding to know that the charity gets a four figure sum that would otherwise just go to the taxman, and that there might be more to come in the future.

I had intended to show my appreciation of your combined efforts too. I know that sorting out tax info can be a pain in the wotsit but this is truly valuable income for BL. Thanks to you both for your hard work!

I think our mutual appreciation society has to extend to you too Helen. After all, it was your insistence that we were eligible for giftaid that made us pick it up and get it going in the first place, so well done you too. It was quite a battle but we got there in the end.

We've only been claiming for two years but I think it has earned several thousand pounds for the charity already, so it's been a great outcome. Hopefully a little can be spared to update the IT and make the claiming of it a much more straightforward exercise in the future!

Sounds like an excellent idea - speculate to accumulate!
