    Hello folks!

I'm from Manchester and I've just joined the forum. I know it seems to be mainly owners of parrots on here so I may not meet anyone else who owns a wonderful, rare, entertaining and extremely intelligent bird like mine....a Greater Indian Hill Mynah!

He's called Jake and I've owned him for over 9 years now....he's almost 10 years old. He's adorable and I am so glad I have had the opportunity to own one of these amazing birds.

Looking forward to perusing the forum!

    xx

Hi and welcome from a fellow Mancunian (live in Urmston). I've met a Mynah many years ago but don't know anyone who is owned by one! We are owned by our 2 BL Foster CAGS, who we love dearly. Things are pretty quiet around here these days (I think folk use FB). There are a few like-minded bird nuts still around though.

    Enjoy the site! Helen

Hi Helen, thanks for your welcome and good to know there's another bird keeper in Trafford!

Since you live so close to me I wonder what you do with your birds when you go on holiday? Do you know any local sitters?

My Jake is so homely I don't think he would go to a boarder and I know he wouldn't be getting the attention he craves. Until now my parents have sat for him and the house at the same time but they're getting on a bit now so I don't think it's fair to expect them to do it anymore.

We send our 'boys' (I'm becoming increasingly convinced Joey is a girl) to Shaz in Newcastle (near Stoke.) She has 'Grey Paradise' and our birds know her. In fact Joey was safehoused with Shaz in the past and Shaz taught Charlie (a parent-reared bird) to step up. My hubby is retired due to ill health so we don't really go away very often.

I don't know if I could persuade Pete to holiday home a Mynah but you could ask if you were struggling and we could think about it.
