If you are looking to re-home your parrot, please always use a reputable Parrot Rescue Organisation.

Always check to ensure the organisation you wish to use is registered with an approved organisation such as ‘The Charities Commission’ or ‘Companies House’.

We do know of some so called ‘Parrot Rescues’ who are taking in birds, and then re-selling them despite what their web sites states.

Hi, I have just joined the group after hearing so many great comments from friends and other rescue services.

Although I co-run a rescue service in Kent , I don't currently have a bird of my own. I have around 32 years experience in keeping, breeding, and caring for various species of birds, and working with other rescue groups over the last 15 odd years have helped to care for and re-home everything from a finch to a European Eagle Owl.

I had my last Macaw Ronnie for just over 15 years, and literally had him from an egg, but after an accident whilst in the care of a friend (no fault of his) we sadly lost him and it has taken 5 years to finally realise that despite caring for other's rescues, we as a family, really do need one or two parrots as family members.

I know that no bird can ever replace Ronnie, but we really do miss having a permanent family member like him around, which is why I have searched and hopefully now found 2 suitable birds at Birdline. My wife has always wanted an African Grey like her late father had as she seemed to bond with him and was heartbroken when he was sold. I have always had parrots and macaws in my life so would like the chance to offer one a forever home.
