Joey (Yellow Crowned Amazon) - 4280613

Name: Joey

Breed: Yellow Crowned Amazon

Reference No: 4280613

Summary: Hello all, I'm Joey and I'm a very lovable Yellow Crowned Amazon.

Description:
Very little is known about my past other than I came from a pet shop - this has left me with some fear of hands, so I don't step up, but I adore my safehouse Mummy stroking the back of my neck. It took a long time for me to trust her, but I've never bitten her as I quite like her really. Apparently my Safehouse Mummy says for an Amazon I'm quite a quiet bird although I do have my moments especially when I'm really excited or we have visitors, because I like to be the centre of attention! I love to charm everyone with my wonderful singing!!!! Whistle at me and you'll be tickled by my singing back at you, I've even been known to do a duet occasionally. I can talk; I say "hello", "good boy" and other words that I'm keeping secret from the humans in the house, just to keep them guessing. I've been known to pluck, but I'm keeping this under control at the moment, even though sometimes I forget and will pull out a few feathers. I've got a little bald patch on my back, but haven't lots of other men!!! At the moment my plucking is under control, you should see my tail, I've got 5 feathers now! My safehouse Mummy says I'll be even more handsome with all of my feathers so I'm giving it a go. I currently live with 5 other parrots, so I'm used to other birds and noise!! There's also a furry thing called a dog here, but I don't bother with her. I like teenagers and adults but I've never met a little human so I don't know if I like them. I used to be a really picky eater, but my Safehouse Mummy kept on putting things called fruit and veg in my bowl and over time I've learnt to like them, especially sugar snap peas! If I'm good I also get treats now and again and love plain popcorn and peanut butter on toast, yum yum!! I'm used to being left at home with the others whilst my Mummy works, and we have a right old time when she's not here, but shhhh don't tell her!!!!! So if you have to work for a few hours, I'm happy to keep myself amused. I don't always come out of my cage, Mummy leaves the door open for me to choose what I do, when I do come out be prepared for me to come and sit on your lap, you must give me a good head scratch though! I also love sitting on top of my cage looking out of the window watching the world go by. My Safehouse Mummy says that she'll be very sad to see me go, but knows I will make someone a fabulous friend (hopefully someone who has experience of Amazons and someone with lots of patience as I'm sure with time I will become more confident in being handled). I am currently living in Devizes and I have my own cage so all I need now is a foster home and my life will be complete

Comes with cage? Yes

Location: Wiltshire

Note: This bird is in the latter stages of the rehoming process and a potential forever home may have been found. Please do not apply for this bird unless the red writing is removed. Thank you.
